Our city is growing, and Newcastle City Council has put in place a Local Plan, known as the Core Strategy and Urban Core Plan, to ensure that Newcastle has enough homes, jobs and services to meet our communities’ needs. Land at Callerton is identified in this Local Plan as a location for approximately 3000 new homes. 

Together with the developers, the council has drafted a Masterplan for the area which outlines our approach to the development, including transportation, land use, recreation, housing and design and identifies the key infrastructure required to support existing and future communities as a result of the development.
