Keeping Safe in Newcastle on Biteable.This is a chance for you to have your say about keeping adults at risk of abuse safe in Newcastle. The Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board (NSAB) are currently developing their Strategic Annual Plan for 2019-2020. Here's a bit more about it:
The plan sets out which areas of work are going to be a priority for the multi-agency partnership in the coming year. The Board would like to hear your views on the sorts of things you think they should be concentrating on. About safeguarding adults
Safeguarding adults is about protecting an adult's right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect. It is about people and organisations working together to prevent and stop both the risk and experience of abuse, while at the same time making sure that the adult's wellbeing is promoted including, where appropriate, having regard to their views, wishes, feelings and beliefs in deciding on any action. If a person working with an adult at risk is worried about abuse or neglect, they have a duty to take action.

About the Board
The Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board is a statutory multi-agency partnership responsible for safeguarding adults from abuse and neglect. There are a number of agencies including the Council, Health Services and the Police, that are under a legal duty to work in partnership and sit on the Board in order to:
- Develop and publish a strategic plan to safeguard adults at risk from abuse and neglect
- Publish an annual report detailing how effective the Board is
- Carry out Safeguarding Adults Reviews to learn lessons and prevent abuse and neglect
- Raise awareness of what abuse is and where to report it
- Respond to reports of abuse or neglect proportionately
- Work together to prevent abuse from happening where possible
