Help Shape Newcastle's Play Spaces in 2025

Newcastle City Council is inviting local community groups, children and their families, and residents to have your say on ideas for new and improved play areas in the city. Share your ideas, priorities, and feedback with our design team and council officers. Let’s work together to create play spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone!

Help shape our play spaces
We’re planning to make some play parks in Newcastle even better — and we need your help! We want parks to be fun, safe, and welcoming for all children, including disabled people, additional needs, or find it hard to get around. That means making sure everyone can join in and enjoy playing together. Three parks are getting a big upgrade:
  • City Stadium
  • Elswick Park
  • Newburn Riverside Park

What we would like you to tell us
These parks will be designed to be accessible and inclusive, with equipment and spaces that work for lots of different needs. We’re also improving seven other neighbourhood play areas to make them more fun and up to date. Now we want to hear from you:
  • What do you like about your local park?
  • What would make it better?
  • What kind of things would help you and your friends play more easily?
Your ideas will help us build parks that children, young people, and families across Newcastle will love. Please take our short survey and tell us what you think - you can do this here:
Help Shape Our Play Spaces.

You can also give us your views in person at our drop-in events in November, when you can meet staff working on these plans, find out more and share your ideas with us:

What will happen next
We will review what everyone has told us in this consultation, and will use this to help shape our plans for these parks. We will publish the consultation findings here on Let’s talk Newcastle Online, and updates on what’s happening with parks will be on the Council’s website: Newcastle City Council.

Thank you for giving us your views!
