Newcastle City Council is inviting local community groups, children and their families, and residents to have your say on ideas for improving play areas in the city!. Share your ideas, priorities, and feedback with our design team and council officers - let’s work together to create play spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone!
What's happening and where
We’re planning to make some play parks in Newcastle even better — and we need your help! We want parks to be fun, safe, and welcoming for all children, including those who have disabilities, additional needs, or find it hard to get around. That means making sure everyone can join in and enjoy playing together.
We have already spoken to Newcastle residents about four of our bigger parks: Blakelaw Park, City Stadium, Elswick Park, and Tyne Riverside Country Park and now it's time to talk about the next phase of our park in investment. The six neighbourhood parks getting some improvements are as follows (click on the links to see images of the parks):
- Brunswick Recreation (Castle),
- The Tute, Westerhope Institute (Chapel),
- Nun's Moor (Arthur's Hill),
- Denton Dene South (Benwell and Scotswood),
- St. Lawrence Road (Byker)
- Swan Rec (Walkergate)
These parks will be improved to make the park fun, safe and welcoming.

What will happen next
We will review what everyone has told us in this consultation, and will use this to help shape our plans for these seven parks. We will publish the consultation findings here on Let’s talk Newcastle Online, and updates on what’s happening with parks will be on the Council’s website: Newcastle City Council.
Thank you for giving us your views!
