Please tell us your views about supported housing in Newcastle upon Tyne by completing this survey.
Newcastle City Council is working with people to develop a new plan for supported housing in the city. We want to hear from people who have lived in, or tried to access, supported housing in Newcastle. This includes hostels, supported living, sheltered housing, refuges, or supported flats where people receive help alongside their housing.
This survey takes about five to ten minutes. Your experiences will directly shape future services and commissioning decisions. It’s okay to tell us if things have not felt safe or have not worked well. Your answers will not affect any support you receive. This survey is to help us understand people’s experiences of supported housing and to inform future strategy and service development. It is not a formal complaints process.
If you would like to make a complaint about a specific service or the Council, you can do this using the Council’s complaints procedure: Complaints
You can skip any question and you can stop at any time.
How we will use your information:
We will handle all information in line with UK data protection law and the Council’s Let's talk Newcastle privacy policy: Let's talk Newcastle Privacy Policy This survey is anonymous. We do not ask for your name, and your answers cannot be linked back to you. If you choose to share contact details to get more involved, these will be stored separately from your survey responses, and only used for that purpose.
How your responses will be used:
Your answers will be combined with others and analysed to identify common themes, patterns, and differences in people’s experiences. This includes looking at whether different groups of people report different experiences, using the optional ‘about you’ questions.
We will:
- report findings at an overall level, not about individuals
- not identify any person, provider, or specific service in published outputs
- use what we learn to inform the supported housing needs assessment, strategy, and future commissioning decisions
Ethics and participation:
Taking part is entirely voluntary. You can skip any question or stop at any time. Your decision to take part or not will not affect any support you receive. Some questions ask about difficult experiences. You only need to share what you feel comfortable with. Information about support is provided at the end of the survey if you need it.
Safeguarding and limits to confidentiality:
While this survey is anonymous, if you choose to share something that suggests you or someone else is at risk of serious harm and you provide identifying information, we may need to pass this on to relevant services to help keep people safe. This would only happen where necessary and appropriate.
What will happen next?
We will use the findings from this survey alongside focus groups and other engagement to shape Newcastle’s Supported Housing Strategy. We will publish a summary of what we heard and how it has influenced the strategy. This will not include anything that could identify you.
