Newcastle City Council is exploring ways to improve Welbeck Road and make it a safer and a more welcoming space for residents and visitors. This is your opportunity to share what matters to you and what you would like to see happen.
The main proposals include:
- A new signalised crossing near the junctions of Bywell Street and Welbeck Road
- Pedestrianisation and upgrades to part of Bywell Street
- Improvements to the existing island crossing near Morton Street
Additional improvements include reducing street clutter, improving lighting, adding usable street furniture and minor parking changes to allow for the signalised crossing point. These works aim to improve safety for school users, residents and visitors, making it more accessible for everyone to use these spaces. You can see the plans HERE
