Newcastle's People's Budget is back, but this time we are asking residents where they would invest council funding, not where they would make cuts. From social care and libraries to waste collection and council tax levels, you'll be faced with the same decisions councillors have to make. Cllr Mark Mitchell, Deputy Leader of Newcastle City Council, said:
"The People's Budget is a real chance for everyone in Newcastle to engage in the budget-setting process and give their view on how the council makes spending decisions for next year. We want to work with residents to make sure we're investing in the things that matter most to them."

What happens next
We will use what people tell us in the People's Budget to help inform the decisions the council makes when it sets the budget for 2027/2028, and the findings will be published here. We will consult on our formal budget proposals from November 2026 onwards here on Let's talk Newcastle Online.
