Newcastle Cycling Forum Survey 2013 - This consultation has now ended

As part of the ongoing work to make Newcastle a city fit for cycling, we want to take this chance to think about how the Council communicates with people about cycling, how meetings are run and what the Cycling Forum’s priorities should be for the future.

In October and November 2013 we invited people on the Newcastle Cycling Forum / Cycle News mailing list to take part in an online survey via Let’s talk Newcastle website, and give us their views on what they thought the Newcastle Cycling Forum should focus on.

122 people took part and the findings were presented (Powerpoint: 1.16MB) at the Cycling Forum meeting on 5 December 2013. The full report (Word 455.44KB)is now available. The issues raised were:

  • monitoring and review
  • communication and publicity about the Forum itself
  • communications and publicity about the outcome of Forum meetings
  • better signposting to information about cycling improvements etc
  • more use of online surveys and discussions
  • reaching out to new members

We will be redeveloping the council's Cycling webpages in the next few weeks and using them to address all the issues in detail. Thank you to everyone who took part. If you have questions about the Cycling Forum, please contact the Cycling Officer, Anne Clark, at: anne.clark@newcastle.gov.uk.
