Gosforth Transport Improvements 2014 - This consultation has now ended

We believe that introducing a Red Route on this important road will benefit everyone – people who travel on this road, businesses on the High Street and for the people who live there. There are three options, Option 1 and Option 2 – which are Red Routes with different features; and Option 3, where we do nothing and no changes will be made to the High Street.
We have two Red Route options for you to look at. Both Red Route options – Option 1 and Option 2 – mean:

  • Changing Salters Road junction to a single crossing
  • Reducing Salters Road car park to 40 spaces – relocating most to the High Street
  • No stopping restrictions between 7am to 7pm, Monday to Saturday
  • Improved bus stops and free parking, with loading bays for businesses
  • 20mph speed limit from Salters Road to Elmfield Road
  • Better and safer pedestrian crossings
  • Better cyclist safety
  • Overnight parking from 7pm – 7am on single red lines and in bays provided
Option 3 – do nothing and no changes will be made to the High Street.

You can tell us your views up until Friday 4 April.
