Proposed improvements to John Dobson Street 2015 - This consultation has now ended

Monument

John Dobson Street is set to be transformed with a new boulevard-style, tree-lined layout featuring widened pavements, new road crossings, two-way cycle-track, seating areas and improved public transport links.

Many thanks for taking part in our consultation on John Dobson Street. We have made some changes to the proposals based on feedback. These include:

  • we have removed the cycle roundabout from the scheme and replaced it with a priority (give way) junction
  • made cosmetic improvements by painting the columns under Berwick Court tower block
  • re-positioned the bus stops between St Mary's Place and Ridley Place
Other key changes include:

  • Toucan crossing on Northumberland Road
  • Signalised cycle lanes across John Dobson Street and New Bridge Street West
You can see the final plans and full details at www.newcastle.gov.uk/jdsWe have already painted the columns and we hope to start the building work in July or August 2015.Thanks again for taking part.
