Local Authority School Admissions Policy 2023/24 - This consultation has now ended

We would like to hear your views on our proposed admissions policy for Byker Primary School and our Co-ordinated Schools Admission Policy.
Local authorities with responsibility for schools admissions (‘admissions authorities’) must consult on their admissions policy every seven years. The school admissions policy provides the rules about how places are allocated at a particular school, and it has to adhere to the School Admissions Code (updated September 2021). In Newcastle, the City Council is the admissions authority for Byker Primary School, so the admissions policy we are asking for your views on here is specific to this school.
We must also produce a document which sets out how school applications will be dealt with for Reception and normal age-related Transfer points. This is when children transfer from one stage of school to the next, such as: first to middle school, middle to high school, or primary to secondary school. This covers all publicly-funded schools in the area, and is called the co-ordinated scheme.
We are consulting on both the admissions policy and the co-ordinated scheme, which will apply to admissions from September 2023 onwards.
Please read the two documents below:
When you have read these, please give us your views by taking part in the short survey here, or by emailing us at: admissions.information@newcastle.gov.uk. You can also contact us at this email address if you have questions about this, or you need this information in a different format, such as large print.
We will use your responses to help us decide on the final admissions policy for Byker Primary School, and on the co-ordinated admission scheme. We will let you know what we decide in early 2022.
Please give us your views before 31 January 2022. Thank you.
