Better Lives, Stronger Communities 2022 - This consultation has now ended

Newcastle City Council is investing £1.5 million to tackle anti-social behaviour through our new 'Better Lives, Stronger Communities' programme to continue to keep our neighbourhoods safe. To help us do this, we want to find out more about what people think about anti-social behaviour in their local area, and how much of a problem it is. Please help us with this by completing a short form to tell us what you think.

What is anti-social behaviour?
When we talk about anti-social behaviour we mean someone behaving in a way which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment (people feeling intimidated or bullied), alarm, or distress to other people who do not live in the same household as that person. This can include drug dealing, taking drugs fly tipping, making excessive noise, graffiti, criminal damage and other behaviours.

Why we are asking
We understand that each person’s experience of anti-social behaviour is different and the type of support required in response to this can vary. Therefore, we would like to understand your experiences and perception of anti-social behaviour in your local area. So, if you have been a victim of this, or anti-social behaviour is a problem in your area, we are inviting you to have your say and tell us what you think.

About the 'Better Lives, Stronger Communities' programme
This programme has been set up in response to the growing issue of anti-social behaviour across the city. The council will invest in more community-led activities, services, and work to build up communities and create better places to live. We will actively promote opportunities for training and work through apprenticeships with mentors, aiming to break down inequalities that can lead to crime and anti-social behaviour.

What we will do with your answers
The information from this survey will help us tackle anti-social behaviour and inform our decisions about what type of community initiatives we are going to put in place. Your answers are anonymous and you cannot be identified from them, and the survey results will be stored securely within the Newcastle City Council's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system. We will publish the results of this consultation here on Let's talk Newcastle Online, and you will be able to find out what is happening with the 'Better Lives, Stronger Communities' programme on our website: www.newcastle.gov.uk

If you have any questions about this, or you need this information in a different format such as large print, you can contact Sally Hamilton, Community Safety Development Officer, on:
sally.hamilton@newcastle.gov.uk  or call us at: 0191 278 7878.

The end date for the survey is 12 September 2022, please give us your views before then. Thank you for taking part.
