Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) Newcastle upon Tyne 2026

Please give us your views on our Proposed Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) for Newcastle upon Tyne in 2026 by completing this short form.

We are consulting on a proposed Public Space Protection Order or PSPO (the power to introduce this was granted by the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, also called the ‘Act’). The proposed area covered by this PSPO is the full Newcastle local authority area as shown in the image below. The full reasons for this decision are outlined in the background information paper, which can be found online here: Consultation background information

What we would like you to do
To help us decide whether to have a PSPO, we are asking people and organisations in Newcastle to tell us what you think of what we propose doing. We would really appreciate your views on this, so please answer the questions below before 15 May 2026.

What happens next and how we will make our decisions
All the feedback people give in this consultation will help us make decisions. However, this does not mean everything suggested in the consultation will become part of the final PSPO. Any new rules we include must have strong proof that they are needed, both in the city centre and in the rest of the city. We will explain this in more detail in our feedback when the consultation is complete.

If you have questions about this, or you need this information in another format or language, please phone Joseph Catchpole at: 07841 406 265 or email:Joseph.Catchpole@newcastle.gov.uk
